We love our self-cleaning pool. It looks fantastic, is so easy to maintain, and the self-cleaning system makes owning a pool genuinely low effort. The team were professional and helpful throughout, and we’re really happy with the end result. Highly recommend Compass Pools Melbourne.

Why Compass Pools Melbourne
Six things that set us apart
From the technologies in the pool itself to the people who put it in your backyard — here’s what makes choosing Compass Pools Melbourne different from any other fibreglass pool builder you’ll talk to.
Vantage Self-Cleaning System
Invisible jets built into the pool floor keep your pool spotless 24/7 — no robots, no blankets, no effort. Adam Martin co-developed it. No pool builder anywhere has installed more.
Ceramic Core Construction
The strongest fibreglass shell on the market. Our customers with 10, 20, even 25-year-old Compass pools still report them performing like new. Backed by industry-leading warranties.
Bi-luminite™ 3D Colours
Most fibreglass pools look great dry but go flat underwater. Bi-luminite’s large 3D colour chips stay rich and luminous when wet — the way pool colours are supposed to look.
Pool for Any Site — Maxi Rib
Sloping sites, narrow blocks, above-ground installs, even rooftop apartments. Maxi Rib free-standing shell technology means we can put a Compass pool almost anywhere. Adam co-developed this too.
Custom from Day One
Beach entries, Sunpods, infinity edges, water features, pool-and-spa combos — every pool we build can be tailored. Factory-made doesn’t mean cookie-cutter. Customisations are engineered into the shell, not bolted on.
Award-Winning, Consistently
SPASA Victoria awards in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2025 — including 2025 Winner for Best Residential Fibreglass Pool Over $120,000. We aim for quality every single project, not one-off showpieces.

I dealt with Kate in relation to a part required for my inflow cleaning system. Kate was great in very quickly organising and providing a good price. Thank you Kate.
Compass Pools have been superb throughout the pool installation process. They were supportive throughout the planning process, were honest and upfront all the way regarding costs, and highly responsive whenever further information was needed. The installer, Hudson, was brilliant. A fantastic operator, highly knowledgeable and utterly professional. Deserves all the plaudits one can give him. A thoroughly positive experience from enquiry to installation. I would recommend Compass Pools to anyone considering installing a pool.
We have now had our Compass pool and spa for 4 years so a good time to provide an update. The pool and spa still look like new, and the filtration and in floor cleaning system have been faultless. On the rare occasions I have contacted Kate and her team they have replied and addressed my question - excellent customer service. I recently asked if someone could just check if my filtration system needed any maintenance and a rep arrived the following day and could not fault anything. I always recommend this company to my friends - and as they say, you get what you pay for and with Compass that is correct plus more.
A Family Business Since 1981
Three generations of pool-building expertise
Compass Pools Melbourne was founded by Ted and Lyn Martin in 1981. Their son Adam Martin went on to co-develop the Vantage in-floor self-cleaning system, the Maxi Rib free-standing shell technology, and the fibreglass infinity edge — innovations now installed in thousands of Australian backyards.
Today, Adam and his sister Kate Smith run the business day-to-day, backed by a team that includes pool consultants with over 25 years’ experience. We’re the longest-standing dealer in the global Compass Pools network — and the people you’ll deal with from quote to handover.

Common questions about building a pool
How much does a fibreglass pool cost?
It depends on shape, size, customisations and site. A small Plunge pool starts well under the cost of a typical family pool; a 9.4 Contemporary with Vantage and a Sunpod sits in the middle of the range; a fully custom infinity pool with spa and water features is at the top end. Book a Zoom consultation and we’ll quote it accurately, no surprises.
How long does it take to build a pool?
From quote acceptance to swimming, most standard installs take 8–12 weeks — faster than a concrete pool because the shell is factory-made. Council approval, site access, weather, and any custom features can extend that. We give you a clear schedule before we start and stick to it.
Why choose fibreglass over concrete?
Fibreglass is faster to install, easier on the chemistry (no acid washes, less chlorine), warmer underfoot, won’t crack from ground movement, and the smooth surface won’t scrape children’s feet. A Compass Ceramic Core shell is engineered to outlast the home around it. Read the full comparison →
Do you really build self-cleaning pools?
Yes — the Vantage system is real, it works, and our customers tell us about it constantly in their Google reviews. Jets built into the pool floor sweep debris to a central drain. No robot, no blanket, no skimming. We’ve installed more Vantage systems than any other pool builder in the world.
Will my pool work with a small or sloping backyard?
Almost certainly. We have Plunge pools from 2.85m for tight courtyards, above-ground Maxi Rib options for steep slopes, and our team has installed pools in Kensington terrace gardens and on the side of the Dandenongs. Book a Zoom consultation — we’ll tell you what’s possible.
Can I see a Compass pool in person before I buy?
Yes — we don’t run a traditional showroom with a pool on display, but there are two better ways to see one for real. You’re welcome to visit us at our office at 57 Stubbs Street, Kensington to walk through colour samples, shell sections and the Vantage system in person. And in most cases we can arrange a visit to a finished pool we’ve installed near you — existing customers are often happy to show prospective buyers their backyard. Mention this when you book a consultation and we’ll see what we can set up in your area.
