Start with how you’ll use it

Which Compass pool is right for you?

Six pool shapes plus add-ons sounds like a lot at first, but most decisions come down to four questions: how much room do you have, how will you use it, how many people, and what’s the vibe? Pick the use case that fits and we’ll narrow it down.

Still not sure? Tell us about your project — we’ll help you narrow it down in a 10-minute call.

Pool consultants visit every site before quoting. We’ll walk your backyard, check the slope and access, and tell you exactly which pool, colour and customisations will work — and which won’t.

Common Question

Why fibreglass over concrete?

Both build great pools, but they differ on five things that matter most to homeowners. Here’s the short version.

Compass fibreglass

  • 8–12 weeks from quote to swimming
  • Smooth surface — no scraping kids’ feet
  • Easier on chemistry — less chlorine, no acid washes
  • Won’t crack from Melbourne ground movement
  • Warmer underfoot — insulating shell
  • Backed by Ceramic Core — 25-year-old shells still going strong

Typical concrete pool

  • 3–6 months build time
  • Rough plaster finish (varies with age)
  • More chlorine, periodic acid washes
  • Hairline cracks common over time
  • Cold underfoot — conducts heat away
  • Resurfacing every 10–15 years

Common questions about choosing a pool

How do I choose between shapes?

Start with size: how much length do you have, and what’s the access like for delivery? Then think about how you’ll use it — family fun, lap swimming, entertaining, daily relaxation. The finder above narrows the Compass range down to 2–3 options per use case. The final pick comes down to seeing them in person on a free site visit.

What size pool will fit my backyard?

You’d be surprised. We’ve installed Plunge pools in 4m wide courtyards, X-Trainers on sloping Dandenongs blocks, and 30m Fastlanes on rural acreage. Send us a photo of your yard via the quote form and we’ll tell you what fits and what doesn’t.

How much does a Compass pool cost?

It depends on shape, size, customisations and site. A small Plunge starts well under the cost of a typical family pool; a 9.4 Contemporary with Vantage and a Sunpod sits in the middle of the range; a fully custom infinity pool with spa and water features is at the top end. Use our loan calculator to see weekly repayments, or tell us about your project for an accurate quote.

Can I customise a standard pool?

Yes — every Compass pool can be tailored. Beach entries, Sunpods, infinity edges, water features, pool-and-spa combos, lighting packages, Vantage self-cleaning. See our pool customisations page for the full list. Customisations are engineered into the shell at our factory, not bolted on afterwards.

What about above-ground or sloping sites?

Maxi Rib free-standing shell technology means we can install Compass pools above ground, on slopes, even on rooftops. Adam Martin co-developed it. Read more on the Maxi Rib page, or send us your site details on a quote request.

Why fibreglass over concrete?

Faster to install (8–12 weeks vs 3–6 months), easier on the chemistry, smooth underfoot, won’t crack from ground movement, warmer to swim in. Compass shells are reinforced with our proprietary Ceramic Core, the strongest fibreglass technology on the market — customers with 25-year-old Compass pools still report them performing like new.
