Fitness, family and entertaining — in one pool
Most pool shapes lean one way: a Fastlane is for laps, a Sanctuary is for entertaining, a Plunge is for cooling off. The X-Trainer is the one that does all three well, which is why it’s our most popular shape.
Step-ledge bench seat
A wide, shallow bench runs along one side — perfect for kids who can’t reach the bottom yet, for adults to sit and chat with a drink, and as a safety break for non-swimmers.
Wide steps at both ends
Easy entry and exit from either direction — useful for older swimmers, kids learning, or anyone walking laps. Doubles as a sun-shelf for floating loungers.
Three slim versions for narrow blocks
The 8.2 SL, 7.15 SL and 5.8 SL are 2.7m–3.0m wide instead of 4.2m — built for inner-city sites, side-of-house spots, and properties with limited width.

All measurements are the actual shell dimensions. The graduated floor goes from a shallow end (around 1.1m) to a deep end (1.5m–1.95m depending on the model) with the deepest point in the middle of the swim corridor.

Want serious laps only?
If lap swimming is your only priority and you don’t care about a bench seat or steps in the pool, a dedicated lap pool gives you a longer corridor in less width.
Want pure entertainer feel?
If lap swimming isn’t important and you want a wider, more open shape for parties, kids and aqua-volleyball, a geometric family pool reads better in a backyard.

What’s the smallest X-Trainer that fits a courtyard?
The X-Trainer 5.8 SL is the most compact — 5.78m long and 2.7m wide. We’ve installed them in inner-city courtyards, side-of-house spots, and on sloping blocks. If even that’s too big, look at our Plunge & Relax range, which starts at 2.85m.
Can I add a spa to an X-Trainer?
Yes — the Spa Nexus combo is one of our most popular X-Trainer pairings. The spa is integrated with the pool, sharing equipment and heating where possible. Works on all X-Trainer sizes from the 5.8 up. See the spa-pool combo page for details.
Can the X-Trainer have an infinity edge?
Yes — on the 10.2 and 11.8, with the right site. Infinity edges need either a sloping block or an elevated install (above-ground using our Maxi Rib technology). The Leongatha pool at the top of this page is an X-Trainer 10.2 with an infinity edge. Read more about infinity pricing.
How much does an X-Trainer cost?
It depends on size, customisations and site conditions. A standard 5.8 install starts at the lower end of our range; a 10.2 with Vantage and a Sunpod sits mid-range; a fully customised 11.8 with infinity edge and spa combo is top end. How long does an X-Trainer install take?
Eight to twelve weeks from quote acceptance to your first swim, depending on site complexity, council approvals, and customisations. The shell itself is typically craned in within a single day — the longer timeline is council, plumbing, electrical, fencing and landscaping.
Can the X-Trainer go above ground or on a slope?
Yes — X-Trainer shells work with our Maxi Rib free-standing shell technology, which lets us install above ground, on slopes, or even on rooftops. Adam Martin co-developed Maxi Rib. Read more about above-ground installation.
