8.2m Vogue with Sunken Spa, Quartz, Western Melbourne VIC
A forever-home pool with a sunken X-Trainer spa — the ‘water bridge’ makes pool and spa read as one body of water, but the spa can heat separately. App-controlled. Built before the house, so the kids could grow into it.

The Build
Inside the install
Light open lines, clean contrast, sunken spa flush with the pool surface — designed to look right today and in ten years.
The Project
A forever-home pool, designed to grow with the family
This was the family’s forever home. Young kids today, teenagers in ten years — the pool needed to work for both phases without becoming a maintenance burden on a busy working family. The 8.2m Vogue in Quartz, with a sunken X-Trainer spa joined by a water bridge, delivered both flexibility and low-maintenance running for the next decade.
The brief
A forever-home pool that’s easy to maintain — from kids to teenagers, today through the next decade.
Busy working family. They didn’t have time to skim leaves daily or chase chemistry. The Vogue’s safety step ledge meant the small kids had a place to rest within reach; the open lap corridor will serve the teenagers later. Two phases of family life, one pool.
The sunken spa
A water bridge between pool and spa makes them look like one body of water — with both able to heat separately.
The X-Trainer spa sits sunken alongside the pool, with a small water bridge connecting the two surfaces. Visually it reads as one continuous body. Mechanically the spa can isolate for hot-only running, so the family can have winter spa nights without heating the entire pool.
Working with the house builder
Pool installed before the house build started — the only practical way with a large-builder timeline.
Large house builders have strict processes — we don’t get site access mid-build. So we did the pool first, locked it under a protection lid, then returned at lock-up to install the equipment. Less collaboration than smaller builds, but the only way that works at this scale of project.
App-controlled everything
Pool, spa, lights and heating — all controlled from a phone. Wallace the Groodle approves.
Heating, lighting, sanitisation and circulation all run through phone-based controls. Heat the spa on the drive home from work; switch the LEDs on for evening; check chemistry on a Sunday morning without going outside. The dog still has to swim manually.

Why Compass For Busy Family Builds
Four reasons this Vogue is set for the next decade
Forever-home pools have to work for kids who don’t exist yet. We design for the family they’ll be in five years, not just the family on the deposit form.
Vogue safety step ledge
The signature feature of the Vogue: a step running along one side, where kids can rest within reach of the edge. Today they’re small — in five years it’ll be a perch for teenagers.
Sunken-spa water bridge
The water bridge between pool and spa creates the look of one continuous body — visually integrated, mechanically separable. The spa heats independently when the pool doesn’t need to.
Vantage + Quartz
Self-cleaning is the difference between a pool that gets used and a pool that gets put off. Quartz Bi-luminite gives the water a luminous quality — bright but not loud against the modern house lines.
App-based control
Heat the spa on the drive home, schedule sanitiser dosing while away, switch the LEDs on for evening — all from a phone. The kind of convenience that makes a pool actually get used, not just owned.
