The Project
A family lap pool that doubles as the entertaining centrepiece
This pool and spa combo was set up as an entertaining zone. The client liked to entertain — large family, big circle of friends — and wanted a space that genuinely extended the living area, not just a pool to look at.
The brief
A lap pool versatile enough for Marco Polo, teenagers, and full-house weekends.
They never knew how many people would be swimming at once. The pool had to be long enough for genuine lap swimming — but also versatile for ‘classic catches’ and Marco Polo. A family lap pool, teenagers to adults.
The site
A sloping country block with a view worth disappearing the pool’s edge into.
The fall of the land begged for an infinity edge — one side of the pool merging with the environment rather than fighting it. We built it with a Maxi Rib X-Trainer shell (so the structural ribs handle the above-ground portion) and added an X-Trainer spa, not visible in these shots, tucked alongside.
The colour
Quartz Bi-luminite — soft blue that doesn’t fight the natural palette of the house.
The colours of the house drove the pool palette. Quartz gives a soft blue that doesn’t sit harshly against the long country view; it carries the natural tones of the paving and the stonework rather than punching through them.
Why it works
Three pool functions, one calm surface — not a busy water feature.
Lap pool, infinity edge, spa: three distinct functions that could easily have read as a cluttered water zone. The X-Trainer 10.2’s long, clean rectangle keeps the visual rhythm simple. The spa hides where it doesn’t need to compete with the view.

What it takes to build an infinity pool on a Gippsland hill
Infinity edges on sloping sites are where most fibreglass pool builders pass — and where we’ve made our reputation. Four reasons this build worked.
Infinity edge engineering
Water has to overflow at the same rate around the entire edge, run into a hidden trough, and recirculate without noise or visible plumbing. Our X-Trainer shell is custom-built with the drop edge engineered into the pool itself.
Maxi Rib above-ground tech
Co-developed structural ribbing lets the X-Trainer sit above natural ground level on a sloping site, without the wallowing or shifting that kills concrete builds. That’s how you get the pool exactly where the architect’s drawing wanted it.
Bi-luminite Quartz
Ceramic-core colour with mineral-rich particles that shift tone with sky, time of day and surrounding paving. Soft enough to live with a panoramic view, not fight it.
Vantage self-cleaning
In-floor cleaning heads pop up on a timed cycle to sweep debris toward the main drain — so the pool stays usable without daily skimming. Especially valuable for a country property with eucalyptus drop.
