The Project
An outdoor zone designed for year-round living — not just summer
The clients had been browsing our website and were instantly drawn to a particular pool-and-spa combination they saw. They asked us to recreate it in a different colour. With the design already proven, replicating it was straightforward — the challenge was executing three connected fibreglass vessels as one continuous water surface.
The brief
A versatile space they could enjoy year-round — pool, spa, fire pit, the lot.
They wanted the entire outdoor zone to extend the living area of the house — not just a summer swimming spot. A fire pit was added to the plan for winter use. The pool needed to function as part of the daily view, used or unused.
Three vessels, one water body
The 10.2m X-Trainer pool, 2.8m X-Trainer spa, and a 6.2m bench seat connected by Water Link technology.
Water Link technology connects multiple fibreglass shapes seamlessly — one circulation system, one filtration, one cleaning loop. Tiles laid at the joints turn the connection points into visual features rather than seams. The result reads as a single water body, with the structural benefits of three engineered shells.
Maxi Rib freestanding
The whole assembly sits freestanding with deck around it — no retaining walls required.
Maxi Rib structural ribbing carries the load of each vessel, so the entire three-shape assembly stands on its own. Concrete reinforcing the ribs locks the structure in. Deck work wraps around — no retaining walls, no excavation costs, no compromise on pool position.
One body of water, separate heating
Connected for cleaning, separable for heating — spa hot in winter, pool stays at ambient.
The Water Link system allows shared circulation, but the spa can be isolated for heating. So through winter, only the spa stays warm — no need to run gas or solar through the entire pool body. Year-round use, sensible running costs.
