The brief

Pool at house level — not buried in a hole — so the view stays the centrepiece.

The client wanted to enjoy the view with the pool, not look down into it. That meant building a suspended slab to bring the pool up to deck height, with custom-positioned holes for the in-floor cleaning heads designed into the slab itself.

The drop edge

A custom drop-edge built into the pool shell along two sides, feeding hidden water tanks beneath the deck.

The negative edge required us to manufacture the swimming pool shell with a ‘drop edge’ custom built into the pool along two sides. The water overflows into a stainless trough that’s caught by two large tanks under the suspended slab — invisible plumbing, silent operation.

The colour

Pearl Bi-luminite — the look of a fully-tiled pool without the maintenance of one.

They loved the look of fully tiled pools but didn’t want to manage that surface. They’d owned an old concrete pool before and had struggled with the scum line — especially over a negative edge. Pearl gives the bright, light, fully-finished look without the maintenance penalty. And the suspended slab was designed for a lighter pool than concrete would have allowed.

Three water zones, one calm look

Pool, spa and wader — each with a job, none competing visually.

Three functioning water features in one zone could easily have looked busy. The client wanted minimalist clean lines and got them: lap pool for swimming, spa for relaxation, and a 3m wader for the small grandchildren — all reading as one continuous architectural gesture toward the bay.
